HEART & ATTITUDE
THINGS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The difference between average and excellent
is not skill, but heart and attitude.
It is easy to promote someone with skill,
but it is more effective for the church
to look to training the people with a
heart for serving the vision of the leadership.
CAN I WORSHIP?
In church - If we always attend church
with a serving mindset, we will see extraordinary
growth. Behind the Console? Ministry time
must come from within us, if we are not
worshipping in the task we are performing,
how can we be part of the team leading
others into the presence of God? Our role
is to never miss a God moment in the service,
and to take it to the congregation. In
your own time with God - Unless our life
includes time alone with God, we are heading
in the wrong direction. Maintain a fresh
relationship with Christ. The best times
of my worship should be alone with God
- do I reserve my best for my private
time with Him?
DO I SUPPORT THE LEADERSHIP?
Submission is not submission until you
don't agree. 'Submission' is literally
under the mission. 'Division' is two visions.
Matt 12:25 ? a kingdom divided will not
stand. Ask yourself - Do I know the vision
of my pastor & leadership team? What
is the big picture I am serving? It is
my role to find out and know my place
in the picture and how it relates to the
vision of the church I am planted in.
Prov 29:18 ? where there is no vision
people perish. It is great for the pastor
to have a vision, but unless I embrace
that whole vision as my own and work out
how what I do supports that vision, I
will always be serving in a lower capacity
than God wants me to.
Are we the "can do" department?
The leadership must see us as the people
who they can come to with a problem, and
know that we will do our absolute best
to solve it in a way that is consistent
with the way they would have. Prov 21:29.
"An evil man is stubborn, but a Godly
man will reconsider."
If I am not supporting the leadership
or serving the members of my team, then
I am not part of the team, but a hindrance
to the growth of the church. It is up
to me to see the team move forward as
a team.
DO I KNOW WHERE WE ARE HEADED?
If we as leaders do not see a picture
of what we desire in our team, then we
will never be able to head to a place
of excellence. We must know where we want
to head and then make a plan for getting
there.
AM I GROWING THE TEAM?
Our role is not to keep what we are doing
the same all the time, but continue to
see the individuals of the team growing
in every way. We need to realize that
the team is people and it is our role
to see them growing - whether they are
part of what we are involved in or not.
It is not our role to try and make someone
fit in our department if they are clear
that they don?t desire to be there. We
will never be a team so large that we
don't need others on the team, but we
will make it work excellently with the
committed team that exists now. Help others
find their place in church life, don?t
try and fit a square peg into a round
hole.
AM I GROWING MY SKILLS?
Try new things at rehearsal - the service
is not the place to experiment. "Good"
is the stumbling block to excellent. Integrity
needs no rules. An intelligent man looks
for new ideas. 1 Chronicles 28:20-21 -
"God will give me the resources I
need to build his house." Colossians
3:23-24 - do everything to God & receive
my reward from him! God has more resources
than I have needs. Keep pushing the boundaries
on your skill and knowledge ? see the
challenge with a desire to perform well.
IS THE TEAM ABOVE MYSELF?
Be here to see the greater vision. Be
prepared to pay the price to see souls
won into the kingdom. Unless you are part
of a team, the vision you are a part of
will not outlast you. Keep teaching others
to excel - so that they are better than
you!
WHY DO I SERVE?
If I don't have a good reason, I will
not be faithful to the Call of God on
my life. I need to know the big picture
of my life. Why do I do what I do? This
will give me perspective when the tough
times come. Am I called to be here - if
not why am I here? Keep life simple. It
is easy to look for complicated technical
solutions, but by far the best are user
friendly and easy for others to master.
In the end all we do is about seeing people
come to Christ. Keep this focus.
DO I TEACH OTHERS?
Train vocalists how to use a microphone;
musicians on using foldback. Help them
get the best from the equipment that we
have - and know how to use it. Have a
plan for each service or event rehearsal.
Think ahead. Always be ready for the next
thing. We can have any excuse or reason
we like for not seeing things grow ? and
they will work. BUT our service will be
more effective for the Kingdom if we find
ways to see past the problems, to a solution.
You may not reach the ideal solution,
but will be headed in the right direction,
and further along the track to where your
church is going than you otherwise would
have been.
